The project aims to transition to electric buses, reducing fuel costs and clearing the BMTA’s accumulated debt of over 200 billion baht. The Cabinet has approved a total investment budget of 15,355.60 million baht for the project.

Authorities Seize 284 Tons of Illegal E-Waste at Thai Port, Prepare Repatriation

Thai customs authorities have confiscated 284 tonnes of electronic waste at Laem Chabang Port, which had been falsely claimed to contain scrap metal from Haiti. The discovery was made following a tip-off from the Basel Action Network, and authorities expect to find more illegal electronic waste in the remaining 21 containers. Thailand will be sending the entire shipment back to the United States, the country of origin, under the terms of the Basel Convention, which it ratified in 2023.
