Vietjet Thailand is set to launch daily flights connecting Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur starting October 9, 2026, marking its inaugural service to Malaysia. The new route will operate between Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) using Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

The airline announced this new route on June 4, 2026, with bookings also opening on the same day. An introductory promotion offered fares starting from 0 baht, excluding taxes and fees, and was available for travel between October 9, 2026, and March 27, 2027. Tickets were sold through the Vietjet website and the Vietjet Thailand mobile application.
The flight schedule indicates that VZ680 will depart Bangkok at 11:00 AM, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 2:10 PM. The return flight, VZ681, will depart Kuala Lumpur at 3:15 PM, arriving back in Bangkok at 4:30 PM, all times being local.
According to Vietjet Thailand’s chief executive, the decision to expand into Malaysia was driven by the country’s burgeoning investment, trade, and industrial sectors. He highlighted the International Monetary Fund’s projection of Malaysia achieving 4.7% GDP growth, positioning it as the third-highest in ASEAN. Furthermore, Malaysian tourists represent a significant segment of visitors to Thailand, with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports reporting them as the second-largest group of foreign tourists, exceeding one million arrivals in the first four months of 2026.
The Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur route is recognized as one of Southeast Asia’s busiest, currently served by both full-service and budget carriers. Vietjet Thailand’s chief executive stated that the airline’s entry will provide consumers with increased options in terms of fares, network connectivity, and flight frequency.
This new route is a component of Vietjet Thailand’s broader strategy for fleet and route expansion. The airline anticipates receiving 16 additional Boeing 737-8 aircraft during the second and third quarters of 2026. These new planes are slated for deployment on existing popular routes and the establishment of new short-haul, medium-haul, and connecting services, all operating under the company’s “Enjoy Flying” slogan.
The chief executive also emphasized that the route is expected to foster trade, investment, and business travel between Thailand and Malaysia, effectively linking Bangkok with Kuala Lumpur, a prominent financial hub within ASEAN.
