When we turned up at Treeoh Cafe on Soi 102, owner Tim and his team were busy lashing together bamboo for a new climbing wall for the kids. It was the first sign that this is not your usual cafe, and everything we found afterwards confirmed it.
A family move from Bangkok
Treeoh began in Bangkok, but its owners decided the capital wasn’t the best place to raise a family. Hua Hin, with its slower pace, offered the chance to start again. The cafe opened on Boxing Day 2024 and is run by a wife-and-husband team who are quick to charm you. They saw an opportunity in the Soi 102 venue and aimed it squarely at families, with activities made for parents and children. Lots of homeschooling families are finding their way here, and word is spreading through Hua Hin’s family community.

Tim ran a pub in the UK before swapping it for the slower life of a cafe in Hua Hin, and he looks all the happier for it. The relaxed mood is easy to feel. Maybe it is the warmth of the hosts, or maybe it is the cool breeze that drifts through the garden. The background music comes from a playlist put together by a former DJ.
What we ate and drank
Mango smoothie. Made with fresh mangoes and homemade yoghurt. It is easily the most addictive thing on the table, and we found ourselves wanting a second.
Latte. A well-balanced cup with a good crema.

Pad krapow waffles. Who would have thought it would work? The sweetness of the waffle plays against the salty, spicy krapow, and the result is very enjoyable. It should delight Thai diners and still holds universal appeal. Highly recommended.

Bacon and egg sandwich. Fresh, homemade breakfast food, silky and milky, with a generous rasher of bacon and a runny egg. Together they work brilliantly.

Waffle with homemade ice cream. Lovely, creamy homemade ice cream with a sprinkle of Oreo on a waffle base.

Kids, and a few furry visitors
The standout feature is the regular kids’ programme. If you have children, this is the place to go. While we were there, a squirrel or two also made themselves at home on the cafe’s wooden stools, much to the delight of the youngest guests.

The verdict
The setting is relaxed and homely, and perfect for a few lazy hours of chat and contemplation. For families in Hua Hin it is a find, and with a menu this good, adults will not want to leave either.
