A 32-year-old man was arrested in Loei province for allegedly setting fire to his partner’s stepfather’s car and threatening her family. The incident occurred on October 10 in Phu Kradueng district. The suspect, identified as Saksit, was apprehended by Phu Kradueng police.

His partner, a 16-year-old girl, reported that she had informed Saksit she would be attending a funeral in their village, a plan he initially approved. However, upon returning home from work around 8 p.m. and finding his partner and their baby absent, he allegedly became enraged and began making threats over the phone. She recounted that he initially threatened to sell her stepfather’s car before ultimately setting it ablaze. Saksit reportedly contacted her again, instructing her to check Facebook, where she discovered footage of the burning vehicle.
Saksit allegedly searched for his partner at the funeral but was unsuccessful. He then proceeded to her grandfather’s house, where he reportedly struck one of her friends on the head with a knife. According to the teenager, he climbed through a window to search the house before reappearing outside, brandishing the weapon. Local residents intervened and restrained him until officers from Phu Kradueng Police Station arrived and took him into custody.
The teenager described Saksit as someone who frequently consumed alcohol and became aggressive and jealous when intoxicated, though she stated he did not use illegal drugs. His mother corroborated this, characterizing Saksit as hot-tempered and prone to jealousy after drinking. She also mentioned that his prior relationship, which resulted in two children, ended due to similar jealous behavior. His mother confirmed that Saksit and the teenager have an 11-month-old child together. She added that Saksit had admitted to his wrongdoing and that she had no intention of arranging bail for him.
Saksit has been charged in connection with the vehicle fire and was scheduled to appear before the Loei Provincial Court for remand proceedings on October 12. Despite his arrest, the teenager expressed ongoing concern that Saksit might be released on bail and pose a threat to her and her family. This incident echoes a case from July in Surin, where a man allegedly set his home on fire after his pregnant wife left him amid reports of domestic abuse. Firefighters managed to extinguish that blaze, and police eventually persuaded the man to vacate the property.
