AirAsia expands international routes for high season.

AirAsia and AirAsia X are gearing up to resume international flight operations on previously suspended routes and will boost frequencies on various services to cater to the anticipated surge in demand during the fourth quarter’s peak season. The airlines collectively plan to offer direct flights connecting to a maximum of 46 cities across 53 routes, spanning destinations within ASEAN and across Asia.

Ms. Thanisita Akaraphirun, Commercial Director of AirAsia, stated that the airline is fully prepared to relaunch services on routes that had been temporarily halted. She indicated a gradual increase in flight frequencies on popular routes as tourist travel rebounds. This strategic adjustment follows a period of reduced operations and temporary suspensions on certain routes, implemented to align with evolving travel demand and manage operational costs amidst rising fuel prices during the third quarter.

AirAsia expresses strong confidence in a robust return to travel during this upcoming peak season, anticipating significant movement from both Thai outbound travelers and inbound international tourists to Thailand. A key highlight of the resumed services includes the reintroduction of six temporarily suspended routes to India, alongside direct flights from Phuket to Siem Reap.

Furthermore, AirAsia will re-establish its Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur route, aiming to facilitate seamless international tourist connections to domestic destinations through AirAsia’s extensive network.

Similarly, AirAsia X is poised to recommence its services, with a particular focus on direct flights from Don Mueang. The airline plans to operate up to 21 weekly flights to Tokyo, 14 to Osaka, and four weekly flights to Sapporo starting October 1, which will increase to seven weekly flights from December 1, 2026. Additionally, four weekly flights to Nagoya will commence on October 2. AirAsia X will also offer four weekly flights to Delhi, India, and four weekly flights to Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Cumulatively, for the 2026/27 winter schedule, AirAsia will provide direct flights from Don Mueang to a total of 53 routes and 46 cities. This network comprises 17 cities in East Asia (including China, Japan, Taiwan, and Macau), 15 cities in ASEAN (such as Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Laos), 13 cities in South Asia (including India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives), and one city in Central Asia (Kazakhstan).

The specific routes slated for resumption by AirAsia (FD) in the fourth quarter of 2026 include Don Mueang to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, commencing October 25, 2026; Phuket to Siem Reap, Cambodia, also starting October 25, 2026; and a series of Indian destinations: Don Mueang to Khajuraho starting October 25, 2026; Don Mueang to Ahmedabad from November 6, 2026; Don Mueang to Guwahati, Hyderabad, Lucknow, all beginning November 16, 2026; and Don Mueang to Jaipur from November 17, 2026.

For AirAsia X (XJ), the resumed routes are Don Mueang to Sapporo, beginning October 1, 2026, and Don Mueang to Nagoya, with services starting October 2, 2026.
