Police Launch Manhunt After Man With Mental Illness Disrupts School

A man with a reported mental illness caused a disturbance at Pracharat Bamrung School in Nonthaburi before later assaulting a motorcyclist. The incident at the school, which serves kindergarten to primary students in Moo 4, Bang Bua Thong Subdistrict, occurred around 2:30 PM on August 11, 2026. The perpetrator, identified as 37-year-old Mr. Yut, also known as Bangrim, fled the scene at that time.

On August 12, 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chanathip Phanthong, Deputy Superintendent of the Bang Bua Thong Police Station, stated that investigators were pursuing the suspect, who had reportedly escaped on a motorcycle via a pedestrian path. The suspect is believed to reside in Pimol Ratcha Subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong District, but had not returned home and remained at large.

Later that day, at 3:00 PM, Mr. Suwichak, a 44-year-old victim, filed a report detailing an assault. He recounted that an unidentified motorcyclist, riding a vehicle without license plates, had been driving erratically and nearly collided with another motorcycle. The perpetrator then allegedly shouted at Mr. Suwichak, who had stopped his own vehicle, accusing him of hitting him before proceeding to assault him and cause injuries. This confrontation took place at 9:10 AM on August 12, 2026, under the U-turn bridge at the Tri Noi intersection in Bang Bua Thong Subdistrict.

A bystander captured part of the altercation on their mobile phone. The footage showed Mr. Suwichak’s white car parked in the second lane with its trunk open. The perpetrator approached Mr. Suwichak, who was holding a stick-like object. While Mr. Suwichak reportedly pushed the perpetrator away, the assault continued. Mr. Suwichak then used the stick in self-defense.

Mr. Suwichak explained that he had been driving from Tri Noi towards the Bang Bua Thong market when he encountered the motorcyclist swerving in front of him. After honking his horn, another motorcycle approached, leading to a verbal exchange with the perpetrator. Fearing a collision due to the erratic driving, Mr. Suwichak continued until the perpetrator provoked him further near the Bang Bua Thong market. Mr. Suwichak eventually stopped to confront the man, initially mistaking him for merely aggressive rather than mentally ill. He retrieved a stick from his trunk but stated he did not attack first. After the perpetrator approached and assaulted him, Mr. Suwichak defended himself with the stick, which eventually broke. The fight continued for a few more rounds before the perpetrator fled. Mr. Suwichak pursued him, intending to retaliate if possible. The bystander’s recording from the U-turn bridge only captured the latter stages of the fight. Mr. Suwichak is cooperating with the police and expressed surprise at the perpetrator’s alleged mental illness.

Initial reports connect the motorcyclist involved in the assault to the earlier disturbance at Pracharat Bamrung School, identifying him as Mr. Yut or Bangrim, a man with a reported mental illness. Investigators are actively working to locate the suspect.
