KRABI (NNT) – Krabi Airport is preparing for a significant surge in tourist arrivals as the high season approaches, with a 60% increase expected. Deputy Transport Minister Manaporn Charoensri announced that starting October 28, the airport will manage over 160 domestic flights, more than 60 international flights, and around 90 charter flights per week. This rise in air traffic is expected to continue until March next year.
In anticipation of the influx, Krabi Airport is ramping up its services. Measures include boosting staff at key service points, maintaining all facilities, and promoting efficient passenger processing systems. New technologies like pre-check-in applications, electronic identification via the Thai ID app, and self-service boarding systems will be introduced to streamline the process.
The number of check-in counters will be increased from 14 to 16 to reduce wait times, and public transport services will be enhanced to ensure a smoother travel experience for visitors.
Deputy Minister Manaporn emphasized Krabi’s importance as a leading tourist destination and its potential to become a major transport hub in the Andaman region. She underscored the need for high-quality services and coordination with national transport policies to improve connectivity and boost the local economy.
