His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen presided over a royal merit-making ceremony on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother in B.E. 2569. The King and Queen traveled by royal car from Amporn Sathan Throne Hall at Dusit Palace to the ceremony held at Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall within the Grand Palace.

Also in attendance were Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, Her Royal Highness Princess Siribhachudabhorn, and Her Royal Highness Princess Aditayadorn Kitikhun. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak, and Mrs. Siri Kitiyakara also paid their respects to His Majesty the King at Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall.

Upon their arrival, His Majesty the King offered incense, candles, and a two-tiered golden offering tray to the Buddha image of the 9th Reign, situated at the front of Busabokmala Throne Hall. He then paid respects and offered incense, candles, and a golden offering tray bearing royal insignia to the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, which was enshrined on the Nopphat Lalana Mahashewat Chattra throne. Her Majesty the Queen followed suit, offering incense, candles, and a golden offering tray with royal insignia, followed by a smaller golden offering tray. Following these observances, 30 monks chanted Buddhist scriptures in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother.

After the monks concluded their chanting, His Majesty the King presented a candle and a sermon book to the royal ceremony officials for placement at the Dhamma sermon stand. His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen then jointly offered incense, candles, and a Dhamma offering tray. His Majesty the King then graciously permitted Her Majesty the Queen to offer incense, candles, and a small golden offering tray before the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother.

Phra Brahmavachira, the abbot of Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, then administered the Five Precepts and delivered a Dhamma sermon titled “Paññāsetthakathā,” which translates to “Wisdom is the Supreme.” After the sermon, His Majesty the King offered four Thai Dhamma offerings and a sermon book, subsequently distributing 15 sets of robes to the monks who had participated in the chanting and sermon. The monks accepted the offerings.

Subsequently, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen offered alms to the monks, who in turn offered blessings and well-wishes. His Majesty the King then distributed an additional 16 sets of robes to the monks. After the monks accepted these offerings, His Majesty the King paid his respects to the Buddha image of the 9th Reign at the front of Busabokmala Throne Hall and to the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother at the front of the Nopphat Lalana Mahashewat Chattra throne. His Majesty the King then received the respects of those present before departing Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall and returning to his royal car.
