Thailand is considering revising its 60-day visa exemption policy following concerns over security risks and misuse by some foreign visitors.
Tourism Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul said authorities may reduce the allowed stay period, as most tourists typically remain in the country for less than 30 days.
Officials reported that the extended visa period has been exploited in some cases for illegal activities, including unauthorized work and other offences. Concerns have also been raised about the impact on local jobs and tourism standards.
The government is now reviewing the policy and is expected to propose adjustments, potentially returning to a shorter stay duration to improve control and maintain public safety.
