Thai PM Anutin Welcomed by Māori in New Zealand

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul commenced his official visit to New Zealand on August 21 with a traditional Māori welcome ceremony at Government House in Wellington. He was accompanied by his spouse and participated in the Wero ceremonial challenge, Karanga call, and Haka.

Following the welcome, Prime Minister Anutin was received by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and his spouse. The ceremony included the playing of national anthems and a guard of honor inspection.

The two prime ministers then engaged in discussions focused on bilateral relations. Key areas of conversation included economic cooperation, regional peace and stability, and strengthening people-to-people connections. Prime Minister Anutin also signed the official visitors’ book and exchanged commemorative gifts with Prime Minister Luxon.

This visit marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and New Zealand. Both leaders expressed their commitment to advancing their strategic partnership through practical cooperation and continued their dialogue in a full delegation meeting.
