Hua Hin Hosts Major CPR Training Event to Boost Public Safety

The city of Hua Hin, in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan, recently hosted a significant event aimed at enhancing public safety and emergency response capabilities. Over 200 residents participated in a training session focused on basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and emergency first aid, under the initiative “CPR Splash 2026: ปูสาด CPR 2569.” The event, held on May 20, 2026, at the Viriyasamit meeting room of Hua Hin School, was organized to increase survival rates and reduce fatalities from sudden cardiac arrests.

Nay Jenwit Phalit, the public health officer of Hua Hin district, presided over the practical training session. Key figures in attendance included Nay Piya Phong Nilthuen, deputy director of Hua Hin School, Nay Rawiroj Thammi, advisor to the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Administration Organization, Nay Kachanan Khaengkan, president of the Oxifight Foundation, and Nay Sanya Tangsayhan, director of the Learning Center of the Samut Sakhon Charity Foundation. The training was also attended by students, teachers, educational staff, volunteers, and officials from various agencies.

The initiative was a collaborative effort between the Teach for Life Association, the Oxifight Foundation, Bang Saphan Noi Hospital, Thitikarn Ambulance Service, and various emergency medical partners from multiple provinces. The project’s guiding principle is that “saving lives is everyone’s responsibility.”

Prachuap Khiri Khan province attracted over 11.38 million tourists in 2026, generating more than 51,702 million baht in tourism revenue. Hua Hin, a major tourist destination, hosts both Thai and international visitors, including a significant number of elderly residents. This influx of people increases the need for emergency medical preparedness. According to the Ministry of Public Health, an average of 6 people die from sudden cardiac arrests every hour in Thailand, totaling around 54,000 deaths annually. Early CPR intervention within the first 4 minutes, especially when combined with the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), significantly improves survival rates.

The training session focused on teaching participants the correct techniques for performing CPR according to international standards, proper use of AEDs, and the steps for reporting emergencies via the emergency hotline 1669. The goal was to build a network of skilled volunteers capable of providing immediate assistance in Hua Hin and the broader Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

The training, held from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, was supported by over 25 expert instructors. All participants received certificates from the Learning Center for Basic Emergency First Aid and CPR at Bang Saphan Noi Hospital. This event underscores the community’s commitment to enhancing public safety and emergency response capabilities in Hua Hin.
